Ghalibaf made the remarks during a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Friday, stressing that “drastic steps need to be taken in the areas of banking, barter and free trade to achieve the trade goal of reaching $10 billion in trade between the two countries.”
The Speaker, who led a high-level parliamentary delegation to Pakistan, said the two countries needed to develop more economic, political and security cooperation than ever before to ensure that the agreement signed by the two countries during Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Pakistan is respected.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian parliament speaker expressed his gratitude to Pakistan during the 12-day war imposed on the country by Israel, noting that the Pakistani government stood by the Iranian people during this difficult situation.
“When Israel attacked Iran, we were in indirect negotiations with the United States in Oman, and the President of the United States recently announced that the United States was responsible for this attack,” he said, referring to Iran’s alleged nuclear program.
After the end of the war, Iran began negotiations with the European side regarding the snapback mechanism and reached an agreement with the Atomic Energy Agency in Cairo, but the European side did not honor this agreement at the New York conference.
Ghalibaf said that although the United States does not want Islamic countries to grow and progress, Muslim countries can fight America’s excessive demands with unity, friendship and unity.
The Iranian parliament speaker then pointed out the differences between Pakistan and Afghanistan and said that Iran is ready to provide all necessary support to resolve the differences.
The Pakistani Prime Minister said that the two countries, as friends, have always stood by each other during difficult times.
Shehbaz Sharif claimed that the Iranian state and government supported Pakistan in the recent Pakistan conflict and that the Pakistani state and government supported Iran during the 12-day war.
It further added that Pakistan supports Iran’s peaceful nuclear energy and uranium enrichment possession.
