“In recent negotiations, the Omani side proposed a solution to remove obstacles currently being examined,” said Araguchi, a top Iranian negotiator who spoke with reporters on Sunday afternoon after attending an African Day ceremony in Tehran.
Regarding Iran’s relationship with African countries, the Iranian minister said, “Africa is one of our foreign policy priorities and is alongside our neighboring countries that have been our friend since ancient times.
Foreign Minister Arakich led the five-round negotiations with Steve Witkov, the US Special Mission, mediated by Omani Badr Al-Busady’s Foreign Minister.
After talks ended in Rome on Friday, Arakichi said it was the “most specialized” round of negotiations between the two since the diplomatic process began in April.
The top diplomat said the US “now has a better, clearer, more accurate understanding of our position.”
