TEHRAN – 21 short and medium-length documentary films will be submitted to the international competition section of the 19th Iranian International Documentary Film Festival “Cinema Verité” to be held in Tehran from December 10th to 16th.
According to the public relations department of the Documentary, Experimental and Animated Film Center (DEFC), which organizes the festival, the titles participating in the competition will be from 2024 and 2025 from 19 countries.
The lineup includes songs such as “Where is Home?” Indonesia’s Ramtial Simolunkil, Namibia’s The Walvis Story by Tim Hübschle, Slovenia’s Jakob Krese’s Ceasefire, Austria-Germany’s Climate Art – From Protest to Utopia, Austria-Germany’s Antonio Paoletti’s When I Came to your “Voices from the Abyss” directed by Antonio Paoletti from Ethiopia, “Voices from the Abyss” by Irving Serrano and Victor, Rejón from Mexico, and “Photo Developer ST-1” by Dmitrii Fetisov from Russia.
“Love Among Ruins” by Jacek Komorowski from Poland, “The Great Thaw” by Michaela Grill and Karl Reimex from Canada, “My Gray World” by Petro Aleksowski from Poland, “Game Master” by Magda Wyszyńska from Denmark, “Between Planes” by Med Amin Elkady from Tunisia, “A Little” by Polina Privitkova and Maxim Also on the list are Russia’s Pechersky, Australia’s Adam Knott’s Refugees and Ireland’s Dziga Cybele’s White Veil.
The remaining films in this section are “Women’s Treasure” directed by Haysem, Mohamed Mughhirbi and Ben Romdaan from Tunisia, “The Vestiges – Following the Echoes of the Train” directed by Luis Manuel from Colombia, “Terra Battuta” directed by Marzio Breglias from Italy, and “The Gringo” directed by Rodrigo Farias from Chile. Diary” and “Draw me a Homeland” by Chilean director Nur Alkeder. “October 17, 1691” by Pascot Sebastian of the Netherlands and France.
Cinema verité seeks to express the relationship between reality and truth through documentary films.
The 19th edition of the festival will be held at Merat Cineplex under the direction of Mohammad Hamidi Moghaddam.
