The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said Tuesday that the fatal dramatic increase among elderly people, patients and children stems from fatal living conditions intentionally enforced by the Tel Aviv administration, and aims to weaken and harm the population.
According to the Geneva-based organization, these conditions include intentional starvation, serious suffering and a systematic refusal to health care, in addition to the ongoing comprehensive lockdown.
EuroMED highlighted that the lack of a robust surveillance system within Gaza’s Ministry of Health, even if they were prevented, led to numerous deaths that would be classified as natural causes.
A field team for human rights groups recorded distressing accounts from older people who have been forced to evacuate and experience hunger in recent times.
Euro-Med also warned that continuing evacuation due to heavy artillery exacerbated the hunger crisis and that if residents are keeping canned food to a minimum, they are losing minimal reserves if they have residents.
It characterized the humanitarian situation in Gaza as devastating, and hunger affected all sectors of the population.
