Tehran – Palestinian prisoners have gained freedom from prisons in Israeli occupation as part of the sixth batch of prisoner exchange deals.
Many Palestinians liberated by the Gaza resistance movement were taken to hospitals while in Israeli prisons due to severe deterioration in their health.
The occupied West Bank family of Ramallah welcomed some of them.
The family asserted their immobility on their land, reciting phrases written on the banner by the armed wings of Hamas, the Al-Kassam brigade, on the Gaza prisoner handover platform.
Like previous incidents over the past few weeks, the occupying regime warned the families of Palestinian prisoners on the West Bank against celebrating the release of their loved ones.
The batch included 333 Gaza prisoners who were arrested during the occupation during the war, with 36 serving life sentences.
Life sentences for 111 Gaza prisoners and 12 servings have been released for each of the three Israeli prisoners released by Gaza resistance on Saturday.
Israeli forces invaded and attacked the home of prisoner Mazen al-Qadi, who was released on Saturday, before and after his release.
Musa Nawaura, the oldest prisoner released by the Gaza Resistance Front, was accepted by Palestinians in Israeli prisons 18 years later and served two life sentences.
The 71-year-old has been imprisoned by the occupation since 2007.
After being jailed for 23 years, Summer Abu Kwaik was the first to accept his son.
Among the other prominent prisoners freed by resistance were Ibrahim, Khalil, Musa Saranee and three brothers, occupied Al-Kud (Jerusalem).
Ibrahim and Musa were transferred to the hospital as soon as they arrived in Ramallah due to medical neglect and abuse in prison.
Halil, who was serving a life sentence, was forced to deport him to Gaza.
Another freed prisoner, Hassan Oweis, spoke of the horrifying situation in which Palestinian prisoners are forced to survive in the occupying prison.
The bus carrying most of the freed Palestinian prisoners arrived in the Gaza Strip and headed to Khan Eunice’s European Hospital for emergency medical care.
To Al Jazeera, Mohamad Elmasry, professor of the Media Studies Program at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, told that 333 released Palestinians were arrested without charges.
“These are people who have not committed crimes by Israel’s own entry. And this is the case with thousands of Palestinians currently in prison for administrative detention (below),” he said. He added that it is well documented that many Palestinian prisoners are being treated horribly within Israeli prisons.
