TEHRAN – The 42nd Tehran International Short Film Festival (TISFF), which opened in Tehran on Sunday, will host four non-competitive side programs.
The program aims to present notable achievements in the field of short films worldwide, in addition to reminiscing about the heritage of Iranian short films, ILNA reported.
“Seekers: A Quest for Place in Contemporary Turkish Film,” “China’s Emerging Short Cinema,” “A Selection of Film7days,” and “Pioneers: Iranian Echoes from Tampere” are among the programs scheduled to be held during the festival.
“Seekers: The Quest for Place in Contemporary Turkish Cinema” explores humanity’s search for belonging, from the close-knit families’ struggles for love and connection in contemporary Turkish films such as “Good Morning Mama” and “Southwest,” to individuals’ battles with apathy in the films “The School Bus” and “The Moisture.”
From the film Garang to a future in the borderlands to the broader quest for survival and global justice in Vishwa Ijtema, it reflects humanity’s enduring will to find meaning and a place in the world.
These programs will be screened each night in the halls of the international section of the festival at the Iran Mall Cinema Complex in eastern Tehran in the presence of curators and guest filmmakers. There will also be a Q&A session after the screening. ticket
Emerging Chinese Short Films selected new Chinese short films from over 3,600 submissions.
Focusing on some outstanding works of fiction, the five selected films reflect China’s regional, cultural and linguistic diversity. By showcasing emerging talent, we highlight the creativity and promise of the country’s next generation of filmmakers, who are increasingly being recognized at international film festivals.
“A Selection of Film7days” is the title of another program at TISFF. Film7days, which has been held in Kazan since 2019, is an international short film competition in which 10 teams create short films during a seven-day intensive camp under the guidance of experts. Selected projects will be guided from script to final cut, ensuring worldwide festival success.
This program features a carefully selected selection of the best films that showcase diverse landscapes, cultures, and characters from multiple eras and countries.
