The Gaza government on Friday warned that more than 65,000 children are at immediate risk from hunger due to Israel’s siege and two months of essential supply to the Gaza Strip as part of a massacre campaign in the Palestinian enclave.
“The Israeli occupation continues to commit systemic crimes against 2.4 million people by engineering hunger to kill civilians and blocking 39,000 aid trucks in a terrible violation of international law,” the Gaza media office said in a statement.
It said that all bakeries are non-operated for 40 days and civilians are being taken from the bread.
“More than 65,000 children face starvation from malnutrition as Israel weaponizes hunger for civilians,” he added.
The statement noted that 70 days of total closure of Israel’s crossings exacerbated the collapse of Gaza’s humanitarian and health systems.
It urged the international community and the United Nations to urgently intervene to stop the lockdown, resume crossings and allow Gaza to flow to aid and essentials.
