The epicenter of the tremor was reported to be 39.5 km (24.5 miles) deep off the coast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky city, the management centre of Russia’s Kamchatka Krai.
The US Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said “dangerous” waves are possible along the coast within 300 kilometers (186 miles) of the epicenter.
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky hosts the Rybachiy Submarine Base of the Russian Navy and the Yelizovo Airbase of the Air Force.
There have been no reports of casualties or damage.
Russian authorities issued tsunami warnings along the Kamchatka coastline, serving high alerts and urged residents to stay away from tsunami-generated areas like beaches.
On July 30, the strongest earthquake ever recorded in the 8.8 digits on the peninsula, with Russian scientists recording more than 100 aftershocks, with a size greater than 5.0 after the first tremor.
