TEHRAN – Anwar Gargash, a diplomatic advisor to the president of the United Arab Emirates, was received by Iran’s foreign minister on Wednesday by Tehran’s foreign minister and had a letter from US President Donald Trump.
This letter is addressed to the leader of the Islamic Revolution. Ghagash reportedly delivered a letter to Iran’s top diplomat, Abbas Araguchi. It remains unclear whether the letter was forwarded to Ayatollah Khamenei.
The contents of the text are also unknown. However, in an interview on Friday, Trump wrote to Iranian leaders, saying he asked them to engage in new nuclear talks or risk attacks by the US.
Trump quit his international contract on Iran’s nuclear program in 2018. Despite consistently expressing doubts of interest in a new nuclear deal with Iran, the president refused to temper the retreat of sanctions and the tone of threatening words.
