Tehran – Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines (the virus that causes cervical cancer in women) and recombinant influenza vaccines are projected to be produced in Indonesia, an official with a vice president of the science, technology and knowledge-based economy.
Indonesian vaccine maker Bio-Pharma produces a variety of vaccines at government costs. But they have not developed these two vaccines. The vaccine will be made there and will gain a share in the sales market, Mehr’s news agency quotes Mostafa Qanei as saying.
Given Indonesia’s population of around 300 million, if these two vaccines were added to Indonesia’s vaccination program, it would be a huge benefit for Iran.
Officials also said Iran could also transfer plasma purification technology to Indonesia.
It takes about 2-3 months to provide medical services to patients with cardiovascular disease in Jakarta. “There is technology to provide these services in Iran, but rather than preferring to sell products, we sell services, i.e. we supply devices to hospitals in Indonesia and provide services at the same rate.”
A new Iranian remote science system installed in Indonesia
A third and fourth system was launched after two Iranian remote robotic surgery systems were installed in an Indonesian hospital in November 2024.
The system, which was highly welcoming to Indonesian surgeons, was installed at Wahidinsu Dyrofussod General Hospital in Makassar and at Hajiadam Malik General Hospital in Medan, the IRNA reported.
Important benefits of the system include affordable prices (one fifth of the price of foreign models), low maintenance, and cost-effective consumables.
The first two Iranian remote garden systems were installed in hospitals in Bandung and Yogyakarta.
In December 2023, Rouhollah Dehqani-Firouzabadi, former Iranian vice president of science, technology and knowledge-based economy, and Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Indonesia’s Minister of Health, have signed a memorandum of understanding based on Iran’s establishment of a robotic telesurgical centre in a hospital in Makasar city, Indonesia.
Developing a robotic remote surgical training service center at Wahyedinsu Dyrohunso General Hospital and strengthening the surgeon and resident physician capabilities through advanced surgical skills training based on modern scientific methods was one of the main topics of the agreement.
Furthermore, creating an interdisciplinary platform among clinical physicians, researchers and engineers, creating a dynamic environment to promote new ideas in the field of medical education, and encouraging new research projects in the field of medical and surgical interventions was another axis of collaboration.
About $20 million worth of medical devices are exported to more than 60 countries per year, according to Abdolreza Yaqoubzadeh, general director of Iranian medical device manufacturers and exporters.
Domestic medical device manufacturers produce and supply over 10,000 types of medical devices to domestic and foreign markets. Today, various experimental equipment are manufactured at much lower prices than the same foreign product.
