Tehran – Iran’s Red Crescent Association (IRCS) has sent out aid shipments to war-hit people in Lebanon.
The consignment includes 1,000 tonnes of essential goods, such as tents, blankets, mats, groceries, and grains, as well as medical items to meet the needs of children and others affected by the war.
IRCS speeds up delivery of aid to UN Lebanon
On October 9, 2024, IRCS Head Pilhosine Koliband and Iran’s UN resident coordinator Stephen Pleenor spoke about the tragic situation in Lebanon and how to speed up the provision of aid to those affected by the war.
During the meeting, Koliband condemned the brutal attacks of Zionist regimes in Gaza and Lebanon, the IRCS website reported.
Referring to Israeli crimes, including civilian targets, civilian killings, ambulance and rescue forces, hospitals and health centres, officials warned of the humanitarian crisis and the potential for genocide in Lebanon.
He called for immediate UN intervention to end the attack.
Kolivand also submitted a report on the shipment of humanitarian assistance to Lebanon by the Iranian Red Crescent Association.
Koliband highlighted the urgent need for Lebanese people for medicine, medical devices, food and essential items, and announced that IRCS is ready to send more shipments of humanitarian assistance. He also emphasized the need for active participation and cooperation of the United Nations on the ground.
Pleenor praised the IRC’s efforts and humanitarian assistance to the people of Lebanese on his side.
He regretted the unfortunate events in Lebanon and emphasized the need to send cash and non-cash assistance to affected Lebanese people.
The formula highlighted the importance of ensuring the safety of aid workers in these areas.
