Focusing on safety standards, improved transport capacity and improved service quality, PMO has compiled a comprehensive report aimed at providing a safe and comfortable maritime travel experience during the holiday season.
Expanding the Maritime Passenger Fleet
Along the Nowruz 2025 Maritime Travel Facilitation Plan, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development has added two new passenger ships with a total of 540 seats to the Shahid Haghani Port fleet in Bandar Abbas. In total, 100 ships will be deployed, including 47 passenger ferries and 50 landing crafts, along with 150 service boats in full standby. Additionally, other important ports have strengthened their maritime transport capacity to meet the expected surge in demand.
Focused on safety and maritime travel standards
The PMO’s Deputy Transportation Minister emphasized the safety of passengers and said negligence would not be tolerated. To maintain safety standards, passenger ships have undergone thorough technical inspections and maritime search and rescue drills have been implemented. Additionally, emergency response teams and service personnel are stationed at major ports to support holiday operations. All vessels must comply with safety regulations and obtain technical approval before they can begin operations.
Focus on labor and occupational health standards
At a recent PMO Management Conference, Saeed Rasouli highlighted the priorities of workforce welfare and the need to improve working conditions for employees. Compliance with national port-wide health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards remains an important focus during Nowruz. Specialized training sessions are held for operational and service personnel.
Special initiatives for ticket services
To streamline Nowruz Travel, a round-trip ticketing system has been implemented on busy routes from Shahid Haghani Port to Hormuz and the Qeshm Islands, aimed at preventing congestion. Additionally, 1,300 support personnel and 150 vessels are deployed at ports across the country to ensure passenger safety and guidance. Some ports have introduced new amenities to improve the travel experience.
Preparation of Chabahar Port for Knowles Maritime Tourism
Chabahar Port will provide extensive services from March 15th to April 4th with 355 staff members, 14 rescue vessels and 60 tourist boats stationed at 11 coastal tourism agencies along the Macran coast. Search and rescue operations are fully vigilant to ensure maritime safety throughout the holidays.
Astara’s Maritime Tourism Safety Coordination Meeting
Coordination sessions were held on the implementation of maritime tourism safety measures at Astara Port, attended by representatives from various agencies. Key solutions included stricter vessel safety inspections, allowing boat operations only under favorable weather conditions, and installing safety flags. An estimated 2,700 boats and 13,412 tourists are scheduled to visit Astara during the 2025 Knowles.
Increased Maritime Tourism Safety in Gilan
The Gilan coordination meeting outlined measures to improve maritime tourism safety in Nowruz 2025, including traffic route dr, vessel safety inspections, safety banner installation, and information brochure distribution. Special search and rescue ships have also been added to the state fleet.
Preparation of the Amirabad port at Nowuz Maritime Travel
The Port of Amirabad has established a special task force, signed contracts with maritime operators, and conducted search and rescue drills to ensure safe Knowles maritime travel. Rescue ships and technical surveillance teams are completely wary, but public awareness campaigns targeting fraudulent vessels are also underway.
Western Hormoz Gunport for Full Alerts for Nowruz 2025
The port of Holmozgan in the western part is fully prepared for the Nowruz 2025 maritime travel season. In this regard, 29 ships, including 17 landers with 12 passenger ships with 740 total vehicle capacity and 1,615 seats, are deployed for the route to Quiche Island. A search and rescue team, technical inspection unit and four professional rescue vessels are fully on standby. The operational plan, which will be implemented from March 13th to April 14th, includes ongoing ship monitoring and strict compliance with safety standards. Additionally, 1,000 safety brochures and 100 safety banners will be distributed throughout the port of Holmozgan in the west.
Maritime tourism planning at the port of Boucher
Bushehr’s Nowruz Maritime Tourism Plan will run from March 14th to April 4th and will feature strict safety management regarding vessel operations. Unauthorized vessels will be prohibited from operating and strict compliance with the use of designated piers and life jackets. The recreational maritime routes are clearly depicted, with boating operations being limited to miles up to two voyages from the coast.
Preparation for a Knowles Maritime Trip in the Port of Golestan
The Port of Golestan is also implementing special measures to accommodate Nowruz maritime travelers, focusing on safety across three key areas: pier, ships and maritime routes. The rescue ships are stationed at the ports of Turkmen and Bandar e Gaz, but search and rescue training will be conducted. Real-time weather data exchange between the ports of Golestan and Amirabad has been established to enhance travel safety.
