French authorities have begun investigating the collision between two Dassault/Dhoni Aerfajds, run by the French aerobatics unit Patroille de France.
According to a statement from the French Ministry of Defense, the incident occurred on March 25th around 3:35pm local time. The two AlphaJets were part of a six-aircraft team during a training flight at San Digie Air Base.
According to the ministry, the two Alpha Jet pilots, along with the third pilot in the rear seat, were ejected to the top of the crash and remained unharmed.
Social media video footage suggests that an accident occurred when the aircraft operated in the air while chasing red, white and blue smoke. The two aircraft then collide before entering an uncontrolled dive.
Similar to work to recover wreckage from collisions, Gendermery investigations of air and space have already begun, says French Air and Space Force.
The World Air Force Directory of Flightglobal shows that the French Air Force and Space Forces have 29 Alpha Jets in their fleet.
