Many people who are angry about the way Donald Trump runs gathered on Saturday, marching the country with American city scores on America’s biggest day.
The so-called “Hands-Off!” demonstrations were held in more than 1,200 locations in all 50 states by over 150 groups, including civil rights groups, labor unions, veterans and election activists.
Protesters expressed anger at the administration’s move to fire thousands of federal workers, close the Social Security Agency’s field office, effectively shut down the entire agency, deport immigrants, reduce protections for transgender people, and cut funding for health programs.
Americans took them on the streets on Saturday to oppose the left and right organizations called Trump’s “authoritarian overreach and billionaires-backed agenda.”
Organizers estimated that over half a million people have been demonstrated in Washington, DC, Florida and elsewhere.
Protesters were estimated to have gathered in Washington on Saturday, and were exhibited in a massive display of opposition to Trump’s policies, which organizers hoped to be snowballed in the rolling cycle of protests.
The anger towards Trump and his billionaire li, SpaceX and Tesla leader Elon Musk, was expressed in a sea of placards and banners at Washington Mall. Multiple messages have denounced the two men for shutting down government agencies, cutting jobs and services, and often in graphic terms threatening the survival of American democracy.
