At his weekly press conference, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghihai said, “The Islamic Republic’s military is constantly improving and maintaining the level of preparation to deal with possible coincidences.”
He made his remarks in response to Reuters’ claims that Iranian troops were ordered to be on guard and that Iran had used their territory to warn regional countries for hostile actions against Iran.
Regarding Iran’s relationship with its neighbors, Baguey said, “As a strategic principle, the security of our neighbors and the security of our local communities are an inseparable part of the national security of Iran’s Islamic Republic.”
“We have never joined a coalition aimed at attacking neighbouring countries, but we have always pursued policies that avoid neighbours, regional cooperation and creating tensions,” said a senior Iranian diplomat.
“In reality, we tried to let our neighbors know about the consequences of our adventurous behavior, whether it was a Zionist regime or an out-of-territorial actor,” he added.
