For the past 77 days, Israeli forces have continued their attacks on Jenin and occupied refugee camps on the West Bank, strengthening their presence by demolishing houses, detaining them, and converting civilian buildings into military pre-post bases, Palestinian communications agency WAFA said on Monday.
According to the report, Israeli military detained nursing students in the former Jenin government hospital and the young man and mother near the camp have attempted to get in to the area surrounding the camp, particularly the Jenin hospital adjacent to the Alzahura district and the Jenin camp.
In response to escalation and solidarity with the Palestinians of the war-torn Gaza Strip, Jenin witnessed a widespread strike.
This is what the report further said while the Tel Aviv administration has arrived and continues to boost its presence at Jenin, including armored vehicles and bulldozers.
He added that infantry units are also deployed in a variety of strategic areas. This is because major changes have been made to the camp’s infrastructure, including road expansion and groundbreaking changes.
Additionally, Israeli forces also train live-action forces near Jalamé checkpoints adjacent to the unmanned section of the refugee camp, furthering the disruptions of everyday life and causing irreversible damage to the physical and social structure of the community, Wafa emphasized.
The humanitarian crisis has worsened, with around 21,000 people being forced to banish from Jenin camp. Many of these Palestinians have lost their homes, jobs, and sources of income and are unable to return to their homes.
“Kilzone”: Reports say Israel was systematically destroyed at Gaza border
About 600 homes have been completely destroyed and about 3,000 people are uninhabitable, the report adds, warning that poverty is rising in the region as displaced people face unemployment and economic instability.
Jenin’s death toll reached 36 amid ongoing raids and detention across surrounding villages and towns, but hundreds more have been in custody since the military attack began in January.
The situation isn’t much different in other camps. Many homes were demolished and roads were opened and widened to make access to Israeli military vehicles easier.
Israeli forces have struggled desperately to maintain control of the camp in recent months, which has been described as a “strategically important” area for resistance activities.
The UN warns that forced movement of Palestinian communities in the northern West Bank is escalating at an astonishing pace.
Since October 2023, attacks by Israeli forces and settlers have killed 940 Palestinians and injured nearly 7,000 people, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
