Upon arrival, Paknejad paid tribute to the memorial sites of Martial Generals Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.
The oil minister’s visit to Baghdad lasts for two days, and he will meet with the Iraqi Prime Minister and the Iraqi Minister of Oil and Electricity.
The signing of a cooperation agreement with Iraqi’s oil ministry and the cooperation agreement on the supply of gas to Iraqi power plants are part of the plans for this trip.
Previously, Paknejad said that previous discussions between Iran and Iraq covered a variety of potential areas for cooperation.
“During this visit, we hope to complete these topics and sign a memorandum of understanding in the energy sector,” he added.
The Minister emphasized the “very good” level of interaction and relationship between Tehran and Baghdad, particularly in the cooperation and implementation of the oil sector.
In March, Paknejad and Iraqi Electric Minister Ziyad Ali Fader met in Tehran to discuss expanding cooperation in oil, gas, petrochemicals and electricity.
Paknejad repeatedly emphasizes Iran’s commitment to expanding energy ties with its neighbors as part of a broader international engagement strategy.
