TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut made a series of calls with top diplomats in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar and Egypt to discuss regional development and ongoing indirect negotiations between Omann and the US.
Iran and the US said they had a “positive” conversation over the weekend, but negotiations remained indirect as mediators and negotiations.
The Iranian delegation led by Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi and the American delegation led by US envoys sat in a two-and-a-half-hour independent hall for two-and-a-half hours as Oman’s top diplomats acted as intermediaries.
Iran’s chief negotiator Abbas Aragchi said ahead of the session that Tehran has provided diplomacy with a “good opportunity” to resolve prominent nuclear issues, achieve sanctions resolution and also pays attention to long-term negotiations.
In an appeal with Arab Emirates Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Araguchi shared the latest information on the Muscat talks. Sheikh Abdullah welcomed Iran’s commitment to diplomacy and expressed his hope that negotiations will bring positive results to the wider region.
Speaking with Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al Yahiya, Araguchi thanked Kuwait’s support and decided on Tehran’s position on the Muscat talks. Alyahiya referred to Kuwait’s official statement in support of the debate and expressed optimism for a productive conclusion.
In a Sunday evening conversation with Qatar Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jasim Al Thani, Araguchi reviewed the results of the first round of indirect consultations with the US, highlighting Iran’s resolve to pursue a diplomatic path to address key issues. Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the initial results and reaffirmed Qatar’s preparations to help advance the process.
Earlier on Sunday, Aragut also held a call with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatti. The two sides exchanged opinions on Muscat negotiations and images from the wider region. Abdelatti repeated his support for the Cairo talks, citing Egypt’s formal welcome statement. In turn, Araguchi explained in detail from an Iranian perspective.
They also discussed Gaza’s worsening humanitarian crisis, the continued loss of civilian lives, and the urgent need to strengthen diplomatic efforts to achieve a ceasefire.
