In a statement on Tuesday, Esmael Bakaei condemned the siege of El Fasher and attacked unprotected Sudanese civilians in the camps of Zamzam and Abu Shoruk.
Expressing concern about the serious situation in North Darfur, Sudan, an Iranian spokesman called for the end of the siege of Elfasher, the halt of attacks on the people and the end of the protection of civilian lives in accordance with international humanitarian law.
He also reaffirmed Iran’s support for Sudan’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
At least 300 civilians were killed in a paramilitary rapid support force (RSF) attack in a refugee camp in Darfur, Sudan over the weekend.
The attacks around Zamzam and Abu Shuq’s evacuation camps on Friday and Saturday and the city of El Fascher also drove around 400,000 people, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said.
Since April 2023, at least 20,000 have been killed, 13 million people have been in Sudan’s civil war, and around 4 million have crossed neighbouring countries.
