In an interview with Russian TASS news agency, Mohammed al-Kleifi shared Qatar’s stance on the Syrian conflict and outlined how the two countries (Qatar and Russia) are working together in the crisis surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme.
Below is his comments on Iran and Tehran’s discussions with Washington about the Oman-hosted and mediated nuclear program.
“Qatar welcomes the sister Sultan of Oman’s high-level consultations between the US and Iran. We hope that these consultations will lead to a sustainable agreement that will promote regional security, stability and peace and open new horizons for regional cooperation and dialogue.”
“Qatar has consistently played a prominent role in mediating the US and Iran over the past few years, but has coordinated with other regional parties, including Russia, to support peaceful solutions through dialogue and diplomacy.”
“We believe that diplomacy is the fundamental pillar of achieving positive outcomes that serve the interests of both Americans and Iranian people, and we reaffirm that dialogue is the best way to resolve this crisis and supports all efforts aimed at reaching a constructive agreement,” he said.
