Foreign Minister Abbas Arachki met with Director of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi, who traveled to Tehran on Wednesday on a two-day official visit.
Reminiscing Iran’s policy and resolved to continue interacting with and working with the institution within the framework of international legal obligations, Araguchi emphasized the need to play professional and technical roles within the framework of duties and responsibilities without being affected by unfair pressure from some sides.
The Foreign Minister also emphasized the need for the International Atomic Energy Agency to adopt a clear and transparent stance on the threat to Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister also explained to the IAEA chief about the talks between Iran and the US, regarding the issue of lifting sanctions and the nuclear issue mediated by Oman.
Grossi, on his part, expressed his happiness and gratitude for the opportunity to travel to Tehran, emphasized the importance of continuing interaction and cooperation between Iran and the agency, and consulted with other political parties to create an appropriate atmosphere for solving the prominent issues.
The IAEA chief also welcomed the launch of indirect consultations between Iran and the United States and announced its full support from the agency for the consultation process.
Grossi is scheduled to hold talks tomorrow, Thursday with Mohamad Eslami, head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI).
In X’s post after discussions with Araguchi, Grossi described Tehran’s consultation with him as “important.”
“Cooperation with the IAEA is essential to providing reliable assurances about the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program at a time when diplomacy is urgently needed,” he added the post.
