During a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow on Friday, Iranian top diplomat Aragucci thanked Russia for his warm hospitality to the Iranian delegation, adding, “I had a very good long meeting with Putin yesterday and handed me a message written by the leader of the Islamic Revolution.”
“This was a message to Putin, and it was also a message that Iran would consider Russia as a major and strategic partner and discuss important issues,” the Iranian minister said at a meeting with Lavrov.
He added, “Iran and Russia have probably not been very close in their history and have a strong relationship. Recently, we have signed a comprehensive strategic treaty in Moscow, expanding and strengthening relations to a much higher level.”
Araguchi also pointed out that “the treaty creates the basis for our new relationships. Most importantly, it gives a long-term perspective on these relationships.”
The Iranian minister concluded, “There are many issues to discuss and exchange opinions today. There are many issues to exchange opinions on both bilateral relations, regional issues, and important international issues.”
Leading the delegation, Araguchi arrived in the Russian capital on Thursday, receiving acceptance for a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, during which he conveyed a message (letter) written by the leader of the Islamic Revolution.
