“The second round on Saturday will be held at the Oman Embassy in Rome. They are expected to start at least five hours from around 5am Eastern Standard Time.”
“The US hopes to close its second round of talks with a framework for the next step of negotiation,” the report added.
Earlier on Friday, Iran’s chief negotiator Foreign Minister Abbas Aragci said at a joint press conference in Moscow with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that he still believes an agreement is possible.
“We have serious doubts about the intentions and motivations of the US, but in any case, we will be taking part in negotiations tomorrow,” the Iranian negotiator said.
If there is a similar drive on the other side and they refrain from making unreasonable and unrealistic demands, I think it’s likely that an agreement will occur,” Araguchi said.
The first round of consultations took place last Saturday in Muscat, Oman’s capital. After negotiations, both sides described them as positive and constructive.
