Esmaeil Baghaei, a spokesman for Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spoke to the weekly presser on Monday to announce that the next round of indirect talks between the US and Iran will be held at Muscat.
Indirect talks between Iran and the US focus on lifting nuclear issues and sanctions, Baguei notes the purpose of the negotiations.
“We believe that oppressive sanctions are unfounded,” said a senior Iranian diplomat, adding that he has no concerns about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
Iranian diplomats have emphasized that all sanctions imposed on Iran over the past decades are unfair, illegal and cruel.
He added that both the experts and technical meetings, as well as the high-level meetings of “Wittkoff and Araghchi” will be held at Muscat.
Referring to the meeting held at the expert level on Wednesday, Baguey said the meeting will focus on the details of the positions on both sides.
Regarding Riyadh’s role in indirect negotiations, Bagaei said “the relationship with neighbours is based on good neighbours.”
Close contacts have been established between Iran and all the countries in the region, and these consultations will continue.
China and Russia are two important members of the UN Security Council, important friends and partners in Iran, who are constantly engaged in discussions, he said.
