Government spokesman Fateme Mohajelani said on Monday that private sector investors from the US would not attend the Iran Expo 2025 despite indirect nuclear negotiations between the two countries.
“…with the exception of the Zionist regime (in Israel), there are no bans on investment from other countries, but the current infrastructure is not correct for US investments as political relations are not yet established.”
The statement came after an unconfirmed report suggested that US companies could be represented at the seventh Islamic Republic of Iran’s Islamic Republic, scheduled to be held at the Tehran International Permanent Fairgrounds from April 28 to May 2.
They also hope that indirect negotiations with Iran, which began in Oman earlier this month and continued over the weekend in Italy, could lead to deals on Iran’s nuclear program and ease the country from economic sanctions.
Iranian authorities have reiterated that they are neither optimistic nor pessimistic about the outcome of the consultations.
Iran’s trade promotion agency said on Monday that over 4,000 companies from 110 countries have applied to participate in Iran’s flagship trade exhibition.
The event coincides with a summit exploring economic cooperation between Iran and African countries, with up to 40 ministers and vice ministers from Africa traveling to Tehran to hold meetings with Iranian officials and businesses.
