Araguchi thanked Beijing for his long-standing position in supporting Iran’s civil nuclear program, saying he is sending a message from President Pezeshkian to Chinese leaders.
Iran and the United States have so far held two rounds of talks mediated by Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi, with a third round scheduled to be held in Muscat, Oman.
“China and Russia are our close friends and our two strategic partners who stood by us during difficult times,” Araguchi told Ilib’s correspondent.
“It’s no surprise that we are in continuous and permanent consultations with them in a variety of areas, especially now that we have indirect consultations with them.”
A top Iranian diplomat also pointed out that he did the same thing when he visited Russia last week.
He said the Islamic Republic will continue to talks with China as a member of the UN Security Council and as an Iranian partner, thanking Beijing for his long-standing position in supporting Iran’s civilian nuclear program.
In his X-page post, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said Araghchi’s visit to Beijing would include meetings with senior Chinese officials.
He welcomed the growing “historical social” relationship between the two sides over the past half century, saying that Tehran and Beijing are taking serious measures to ensure mutual benefits from both countries.
“The continued and close consultations between the two sides at a high level are a clear manifestation of resolve from the leaders of both countries to expand relations in all areas of both countries,” he added.
