At least nine people were killed in “large” missiles and drone attacks, and more than 60 were injured in the drone attack on Kiev, according to Ukraine’s provincial emergency services.
According to AFP, it was one of the deadliest attacks on the capital in a three-year war.
“Russia has launched a massive attack in Kiev,” the state emergency services said it updated tolls and updated tolls early on Thursday, local time.
She added that of the 42 people hospitalized, six were children.
Five districts in the capital were damaged, including fires in garages and administrative buildings that have since disappeared.
The state emergency services said the attack also damaged the residential building.
“A search for people under the roof tiles is underway,” it said.
The attack comes hours after President Donald Trump was attacked by Ukrainian President Voldymi Zelensky on Wednesday, accusing him of hampering the peace deal and claiming it was “more difficult” than Russia.
“I think Russia is ready… I think we’re doing business with Russia,” Trump told reporters. “We have to do business with Zelensky. We thought it might be easier to deal with Zelensky, but so far it’s been difficult.”
Trump pressed his comment and said that despite the US being a Ukrainian ally, he has no “favourite” the conflict.
Zelensky on Tuesday removed territory to Russia as part of the US proposal deal. “There’s nothing to talk about. It’s our land, the land of the people of Ukrainians,” he said.
