The United Nations Office for Humanitarian Cooperation (OCHA) issued an alarm about Israel’s obstruction of delivery of aid to Gaza, leaving the population without essential resources for survival.
On Thursday, UN agencies reported that ongoing airstrikes targeting makeshift shelters targeting Israeli displaced Palestinians led to “large casualties.”
In its latest report, Ocha said Gaza has been experiencing the most serious humanitarian crisis since Israel began the war in October 2023.
Ocha further noted that aid efforts in Gaza have been severely disrupted by the intensifying military attacks in Israel, long-term lockdowns to stop humanitarian and commercial delivery for more than 50 days, fatal attacks on aid workers and their facilities, and extreme movement restrictions.
An OCHA official described the situation as a “deliberate dismantling of Palestinian life” in Gaza.
The Israeli Army resumed a deadly attack in the Gaza Strip on March 18, killing 1,890 people and injuring 4,950 people despite the ceasefire and prison exchange contracts being implemented in January.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a former minister in charge of military affairs on war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war with the enclave.
