Tehran – Iranian and Turkish officials have awarded ways to further collaborate with scientific and technological collaborations, focusing on establishing a joint research centre for the digital economy.
At a meeting held on Saturday, Mohammad Nabi Shahiki, Vice Minister of Science in Innovation and Technology, and Mustafa Aidin, chairman of the University of Eurasia (EURAS), detailed explanations of the countries’ capabilities and examined the possibilities of expanding scientific cooperation, the Ministry of Science, research and technology.
The authorities proposed the establishment of a technology transfer agency, cooperation in the fields of water technology, energy and artificial intelligence, and implementation of joint projects between Iran and Turkey’s scientific and industrial research institutions, prioritizing the transfer of technology to the industrial sector.
Both sides have agreed to launch a Joint Digital Economy Research Centre. The definition of partnerships that hold regular startup events and joint postdoc projects in the modern agriculture, biomaterials and biotechnology sectors was one of other agreed programs.
The authorities also announced that they are ready to promote relations between the universities of the two countries to further strengthen scientific and technical collaboration.
Mazandaran, Science and Technology Park in Istanbul raises bonds
In February, Science and Technology Park in Mazandaran and Birnitechnopark in Istanbul discussed ways to expand technical and scientific interactions.
At the online meeting, Karim Soleimani, head of Science and Technology Parks in Mazandaran, and Sezin Erzan, general manager of Birni Technopark, stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in the technical field, the Ministry of Science reported.
Both sides have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focusing on establishing a Technology Transfer Office and supporting the establishment of Iranian and Turkish companies in both countries, and agreed to focus on encouraging Iranian companies to enter new markets.
Attracting domestic and foreign investments to support Türkiye and Iranian startups will be a new step in the globalization of knowledge-based companies. This cooperation marks a turning point in the development of the international market for companies operating in the Science and Technology Park in Mazandaran.
Creating a platform suitable for knowledge exchange, investment and establishment of companies provides unique opportunities for Iranian companies’ growth and technological advancement at a global level.
The meeting appears to be the beginning of strategic cooperation between the two parties. Iranian knowledge-based companies and startups can benefit from MOUs to develop their businesses in Türkiye and Europe.
