Consultations between Iran and three European countries (Germany, UK and France) were scheduled before the meeting between Tehran and Washington took place, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said in an interview with AFP News Agency.
“A scheduled technical conference was held before the high-level conference between the US and Iran. As these negotiations were not taking place, the technical conference became irrelevant at least at this moment,” the minister quoted by the press.
The European Union is ready to impose sanctions on Iran again in case negotiations fail, Barott noted. “If there is no agreement with Iran about a critical, verifiable and reliable reduction in the nuclear program, Europeans will reapply the sanctions they lifted 10 years ago when the agreement was reached,” the minister added.
