Iran’s Judicial Attorney General and International Vice-Chair of Iran’s High Council Human Rights Nasser Seraj, during his meeting with high-ranking Iraqi judicial officers, highlighted the need for a strong and decisive battle against terrorism and terrorist activities.
During their visit to Baghdad, Seraj and his judicial delegation held separate consultations with senior Iraqi officials to address important legal and judicial issues.
At Saturday’s meeting, Seraj highlighted the important popular vote on Arbaeen’s pilgrimage, urging the resolution of the judicial challenges faced by pilgrims traveling to Iraq, and highlighting the need for maximum judicial support to address the issue.
Additionally, he considered several joint lawsuits and judicial cooperation between Iran and Iraq, underscoring the need to promote prisoner relocation and extradition of criminals, particularly those in partnership with terrorist organisations.
The discussion also indicted Mujahedin-e-Hulk (MEK) and defendants related to the 1991 Iraqi uprising.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening legal and judicial cooperation, including implementing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two countries.
They also intensified counterterrorism efforts, pursuing cases of assassination of Lt. Gen. Kasem Soleimani and his fellow members, and pursuing legal action against terrorist groups including MEK, ISIS, and Takfiri groups, including Komara, Democrats, Pikaku, Habat and Park.
