The fourth round of indirect talks between Iran and the US began in Muscat on Sunday after lifting Iran’s nuclear issue and repressive sanctions against Tehran. The consultations will be mediated by Oman Foreign Minister Bador bin Hamad al-Busaidi.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragci and the United States envoy to Middle Eastern Stephen Witkov lead two delegations to the meeting.
A spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Muscat to accompany an Iranian delegation said talks are underway for the Oman Foreign Ministry to return and travel messages between the two negotiating teams.
Before the meeting began on Sunday, Araguchi held a meeting with his Omani counterparts.
At the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude to the Foreign Minister and the Oman government for playing an important role in fostering talks with Iran. He also explained the Iranian perspective on the meetings in that regard and the most important aspects of Iran’s principled position.
