TEHRAN – Iran is set to hold a gastronomic conference on the ancient Silk Road, which has played an important role for centuries, said Mohammadvabareza, director of the Food and Gastronomy Club at UNESCO.
He also said Iran is ranked first in terms of food diversity around the world, Isna reported.
“We plan to hold Florida Atlantic University (FAU) courses with an approach to studying Iranian restaurants and cafes. Additionally, we plan ahead to launch the Caravan of Food and Gastronomy Club and prepare the basis for hosting the Silk Road Gastronomy Conference.”
He defined the goals of the UNESCO Food and Gastronomy Club in Iran, thanking the documentary-themed “saffron”, overseeing Director Ebrahim Moktari and recently directed a memorandum of understanding with the Kish Institute of Science and Technology, the Iranian Food and Technology Association, and the University of Medicine, Science and Technology, Mashhad University.
The Iranian Culinary Tourism Atlas will be unveiled and a joint meeting with the Friendship Association with Iran and Germany, Croatia, Hungary, Greece, South Korea, India, Malaysia, Uganda, Uruguay and Mexico.
He said there will be communications with the UNESCO Club Federation, particularly with international training centres such as the Silk Road, Michelin and Cordon Blue, as well as other activities in the Architectural Department, and the Science and New Technology Bureau.
Babareza has made plans for the UNESCO Food and Gastronomy Club to hold the first exposition of Iranian products such as pomegranate, pistachio, caviar, barberry and saffron, awarding the title of culinary tourist destinations, holding competitions on flavor diplomacy, and holding food events for Iranian and ethics groups.
Unfortunately, Iranian cuisine does not have an incredible position around the world due to its inadequate advertising and misrepresentation, he said.
He said the project-themed UNESCO cuisine and gastronomy caravans, recipes for cooking Iranian cuisine and making traditional drinks are full of vibrancy.
The culinary caravan traveled from Rasht as the eighth UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy with 188 dishes and dessert recipes, and ended in Chabahar with 114 dishes and dessert recipes.
