The surge in port operations highlights the expansion of trade operations and continued investment in Chabahar’s maritime infrastructure. Over the past year, 12 major port and maritime development projects (relentlessly funded by the public and private sectors) have been launched or commissioned, totaling around 105 trillion.
These include the launch of eight investment projects at Shahid Beheshti Port in Chabahar and five major infrastructure projects aimed at expanding port capacity and improving regional trade connectivity.
Improve cargo and container handling in all segments
Total freight throughput at the state ports reached 4.15 million tonnes, reflecting a 2.1% increase from the previous year. This included 1.5 million tonnes of oil cargo (up 5.8%) and 2.63 million tonnes of non-oil cargo (up 0.1%). Construction and mineral cargo processed over a period of a total of 948,413 tons.
Container operations recorded significant advances, with 88,526 TEUs being processed, an increase of 33.8% compared to the previous year.
Transport volume and transport volume climb rapidly
Cargo volume reached 18,231 tonnes, an increase of 19.7%. Cargo freight jumped 188.5% to a total of 247,281 tons. Exports through state ports have exceeded 1 million tonnes driven by strengthening logistic systems and increased storage capacity. Port authorities also reported a 27% growth in the containerized business and the capacity to add 600,000 tonnes of essential goods after the completion of the new warehouse facility.
Additionally, two strategic terminal operational agreements have been signed with private sector investors to improve terminal management and service efficiency.
Ship traffic, maritime safety and SAR operations have been strengthened
The number of vessels calling the port, including the defeat of a 120,000 dwt container with a 14.7 metre draft at Shahid Beheshti Port has increased by 6%. The port control team conducted 1,300 vessel inspections and identified 1,000 unregistered boats and 26 illegal fishing vessels. The Search and Rescue (SAR) team responded to 64 maritime emergency situations and successfully rescued 182 seafarers and passengers a year.
Security and HSE performance upgraded
Chabahar Ports also secured a national ranking of private sector safety and supplier compliance in Iranian ports based on a performance assessment of HSE (Health, Safety and Environment). At Hafte Tir Fishing Pier, continuous dr removal improved access to the local fishing community, but safety conditions on-site have been significantly enhanced.
