Major General Bagheri made these remarks late Tuesday, visiting Sistan and Baluchestan provinces, inspecting troops stationed in the border area and monitoring the progress of the border fortress.
He said a large number of military forces belonging to the Army, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and police commands are stationed in the province.
Earlier on Saturday, General Sadegu Nouri, deputy commander of the Army Ground Forces’ Northeast Regional Headquarters, said construction of the border wall between Iran and Afghanistan reached 81 kilometres in Razabi Khorasan province.
In an interview with IRNA on Saturday, Nouri explained that the project involves the installation of prefabricated concrete walls. Over the past two years, the first phase has been completed with 120km of construction.
More than 22 kilometres of concrete walls have been constructed, and contracts have been signed with 16 companies to facilitate the construction process, according to the deputy commander.
The wall project is 953km long and is currently under construction in the first phase of Razabi Holasan province, Nouri said.
He said the unauthorized entry of Afghan immigrants into Iran has been significantly reduced during the implementation of the border wall project.
