Esmaille Baghihai, a spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made a statement on the X-Post on Friday two days after the US Department said people or groups providing certain construction-related materials would face sanctions.
He condemned the forced US measures as “outrageous,” “illegal and inhuman,” and said the ban was no less than “crimes against humanity” that deprived Iranians of basic human rights.
“The sanctions of consecutive rounds of the US will only reinforce the deeply believed belief of those who are set up to make any malicious efforts to hamper Iran’s development and progress,” he added.
“These sanctions were announced on the eve of the fifth round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States, further raising questions about America’s willingness and earnestness towards diplomacy.”
Baghaei also expressed the Iranian state’s determination to “stay and strong maintain” in the face of our hostility and hostile measures.
The statement came hours before the fifth round of indirect negotiations in Iran. This is expected to take place in Rome’s Italian capital.
In a post on X early Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut stressed that Washington’s claims about uranium enrichment did not result in a deal.
However, he said Iran and the US could reach a deal if nuclear weapons are being discussed in consultations.
