Iran’s Turkish ambassador Mohammad Hassan Habibibzadeh stressed that Tehran supports a process that wipes out the disease phenomenon of terrorism in the region and strengthens the security of its neighbouring countries.
In a meeting with Oke Memis, the Secretary General of the Turkish National Security Council, held in Ankara on Saturday, Habibzadeh highlighted the cooperation between two neighbors, particularly on regional peace and stability.
Both sides believed that increased security cooperation between Tehran and Ankara was key to combating shared threats.
They also discussed the ongoing development in Syria, the process of indirect consultations between Iran and the US over Tehran’s nuclear program, and the end of sanctions against Iran.
Tehran welcomed the announcement by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) to disband and suspend the armed struggle against Turkey, expressing hopes that it will help peace and stability in the region.
