Iran’s Islamic Republic will take the necessary actions to ensure the security and benefits of the nation on three islands, including land, water and airspace, in line with exercising its rights of sovereignty, Esmaeil Baghaei said in a statement Tuesday.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has taken into consideration the PGCC statement on housing construction, visits of Iranian citizens and military officials to islands belonging to Iran, and the retention of military exercises within territorial boundaries as interference in Iran’s sovereignty, and the retention of the territorial department as interference in Iran’s dipuramat.
Such measures are consistent with the absolute and effective sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the three islands of Greater Tamb, Lower Cinque and Abmusa, but are contrary to the principles of international law regarding the respect for the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
The three islands of Lesser Tink, Greater Tamb and Abmusa are integral parts of Iran’s territory, and it is expected that the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council will take a more constructive approach, relying on the commonality of the local states, rather than making basic claims to Iran’s territorial integrity.
