“We have a close partnership with Tehran, and of course President Putin said he is ready to use this level of partnership with Tehran to promote and contribute to the negotiations being made to resolve what is at Iran’s core.”
When asked when Putin could participate in the negotiations, Peskov said that the dialogue between Tehran and Washington continued through various channels.
“The president will be able to get involved if necessary,” Peskov said.
Ali Shamhani and Ayatollah Seiyed Ali Khamenei, political advisers to the leaders of the Islamic Revolution, have denounced the latest US proposal for the nuclear deal as “not professional and unlearning,” and say Iran is currently drafting a new offer.
In an interview with Al Mayaden, Shamhani stressed that Iran would never waive its natural rights and criticised the US proposal that it had not even addressed the issue of sanctions relief, a fundamental concern for Tehran.
“The US proposal doesn’t even mention sanctions relief, which is a central issue for us,” he said.
Shamhani also warned that Iran would not allow Washington to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program or achieve its objective of reducing uranium enrichment to zero.
He concluded by saying that the US position on nuclear talks remains largely unchanged since the Obama administration.
The US and Iran have been holding five rounds of nuclear talks starting April 12th, and are expected to meet again for negotiations aimed at reaching a new agreement. The two countries are at odds at the level of uranium enrichment.
