In a statement on Friday, Esmaeli Baghhai, a spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, described the latest Israeli invasion as “as a blatant act of attack on the integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon’s territory.”
“Undoubtedly, the Zionist regime cannot continue to recklessly destroy the laws of the United Nations Charter and the principles of international law without green light and obvious and secret support, and cannot violate the American environment and secret support,” Baghaei added.
The spokesman called for the UN Security Council to be held responsible and to stop the Zionist regime’s attacks on Muslim countries.
“The only way to protect the independence and national sovereignty is to strengthen their defense capabilities and to carry out honorable resistance to this regime,” he added.
Almost an hour after Israeli forces issued forced evacuation orders to residents of southern Lebanon’s regions, on the eve of Muslim Eid al-Ada Holiday, reported a string of Israeli strikes targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Thursday’s attack is the fourth time Israel has bombed Beirut since the ceasefire with Hezbollah took effect in November. It announced that it had carried out an assassination and mentioned the target Hezbollah site.
The Zionist regime claims that the hit site was a Hezbollah facility.
After nearly 14 months of conflict and a massive loss of failing to achieve its targets in the attack on Lebanon, Israel was forced to accept a ceasefire with Hezbollah. This ceasefire came into effect on November 27, 2024.
Since the start of the agreement, occupying forces have launched attacks in Lebanon, including airstrikes across the Arab state, violating the ceasefire.
On January 27th, Lebanon announced its decision to extend the ceasefire with Israel until February 18th.
