Iran’s Congress President Mohammad Bagh Garribahu criticised the latest US proposal in indirect nuclear talks, saying it lacked references to lifting sanctions and reflected Washington’s forced and contradictory approach.
Gallibah on Wednesday stressed that, according to the Strategic Action Plan to lift sanctions passed by Iran’s parliament, the Islamic Republic remains fully prepared to build trust by demonstrating the peaceful nature of its nuclear program, but it is only true sanctions relief and tangible economic benefits, all continuing to enrich uranium in its own soil.
“The fact that the US proposal doesn’t even mention lifting sanctions clearly demonstrates the injustice and contradictions in the US approach to indirect nuclear negotiations,” Garribaff said.
He denounced the US for trying to take Iran from internationally recognized rights to enrich uranium, while offering promises of economic openness. “They smile at the camera and talk about financial relief, but in reality they don’t just avoid lifting sanctions.
“It is clear that rational logic will not accept such a one-sided, imposed agreement,” he emphasized.
Gallibaff also criticized President Donald Trump, calling him a “delusion” and urged him to change course.
If Trump is really looking for a deal, he must abandon his coordination between the Zionist administration and Netanyahu’s failed policies, Garribach said.
He stressed that Iran must resolve domestic economic problems by relying on internal capabilities, thereby enforcing the US to accept transactions favorable to both parties, including true sanctions relief.
The US and Iran have been holding five rounds of nuclear talks starting April 12th, and are expected to meet again for negotiations aimed at reaching a new agreement. The two countries are at odds at the level of uranium enrichment.
Last week, Iran’s head of the negotiation team, Abbas Aragichi, foreign minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said in the X post that Oman Foreign Minister Badr Al-Basaidi had presented elements of the US proposal on a nuclear deal to Iran during his brief visit to Tearan. He also said, “Iran will respond appropriately based on principles, national interests and the rights of Iranian people to suggestions.”
On Monday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaril Baghihai stressed that considering national interests would be the basis for Tehran’s response to the US proposal.
