Petropoise, an Iranian company responsible for operations in Southpurs in Phase 1, said on Sunday that the launch of production from the new wells added 2 million cubic metres (MCM) (MCM), or nearly 80 million cubic feet, to the field’s daily output.
Petropars CEO Hamid Reza Saghafi said the Infillwell was excavated to a depth of 4,640 meters in one of the most difficult parts of the gas reservoir in Southern Parr.
“The project was carried out by relying on the expertise of Iranian engineers,” Saghafi said.
He said two more infill wells will be excavated in phase 1 of Southpur to increase production from the field.
So-called infill drilling involves adding wells to hydrocarbon fields, reducing well spacing and accelerating oil and gas recovery from reservoirs.
Iran is currently producing 716 MCM of gas per day in South Pur. This is because production is responsible for more than 70% of Iran’s total gas production.
Iran’s oil ministry plans a total of 35 infill wells on the field, with authorities saying the first wells came online in Phase 11 in early March.
The project is part of an effort to maintain and increase gas production from South Pa amid growing demand for gas in Iran’s households, industry and power generation sectors.
