During the conversation, Putin explained to Trump about his recent talks with Iran and Israeli leaders, reiterating Russia’s proposal to seek a mutually acceptable solution to Iran’s nuclear issue, the Associated Press reported.
“The dangerous escalation of the situation in West Asia has naturally been at the heart of the exchange,” Ushakov told journalists following the conversation between Putin and Trump.
“Vladimir Putin, who condemned Israel’s military attacks on Iran, has expressed serious concern about the possibility of a conflict escalation,” he said.
Putin also highlighted Russia’s preparations to implement possible mediation efforts, noting that Russia proposed measures “to find mutually acceptable agreements” during US-Iran negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program.
“Russia’s principled approach and interest in reconciliation remains unchanged,” Ushakov said.
