The Israeli US ambassador said Wednesday that Israel must eliminate Iran’s ability to produce nuclear weapons as well as its ability to produce ballistic missiles.
“They cruise from the air and produce incredible damage,” Yechiel Leiter told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, referring to Iranian missiles. “That production capacity must also be eliminated.”
“They can’t have weapons that can destroy Israel that they claim and that they want to do every day,” he added.
Asked about Israel’s ability to destroy Iran’s Fordow nuclear enrichment sites buried beneath a mountain near QOM city, Leiter said, “We may need multiple strikes, something else, or one of the surprises may be needed.”
“There are some tricks on the sleeve,” he said when asked about Israel’s response if the US would not be involved in the conflict.
“If we have to pursue this and prosecute this ourselves, we will know what to do. We cannot have Iran with nuclear weapons,” he told Collins.
