Iran’s national team is scheduled to open their second week on June 25th with a match against Serbia. The team will play Argentina (June 27), Germany (June 28), and the Netherlands (June 29).
Piazza, officially appointed head coach in January 2025, has a two-year contract with the Commonwealth and has the option of a two-year extension. He brought Tomaso Totoro as his assistant coach. Piazza’s goal is to boost Iran’s volleyball program.
Piazza emphasizes mental strength and focuses on developing young, motivated athletes who can reach their peak in time for the 2028 Olympics.
The team faced challenges early in the VNL. This identified areas for close losses and improvements in serving and reception.
Piazza’s leadership represents a shift towards building mentally tough and technically keen teams, allowing them to compete at the highest level.
The Italian coach now has a deeper knowledge of his team.
Porya Hossein Khanzadeh, Bardia Saadat, Amin Esmaeilnezhad and Morteza Sharifi can steal the show.
In the 2025 Women’s Volleyball Nations League, each of the 18 participating teams will play a total of 12 games on the pool stage. These matches will be distributed to three of the nine pools, with the competition going on for three weeks. The pool stage format means that each team competes with a subset of the other teams in the tournament, and the results contribute to the overall reserve table.
