Reza Najafi stressed that the US, the Israeli administration, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are responsible for the serious environmental impacts caused by the US attack on US nuclear facilities.
An extraordinary meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Committee was held on Monday, June 23rd, at the request of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding Israel’s aggressive moves towards Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.
The US’s aggressive move came when, as one of the trustworthy countries of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), attacking nuclear facilities under national safeguards, namely Fordow, Natantz and Isfahan, the agency’s inspectors were present at the nuclear facilities.
US President Donald Trump has openly admitted the attack on nuclear facilities under Iran’s safeguards, he said, “and Trump further claimed that the US had destroyed Iran’s enrichment capabilities.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Najafi pointed out that the recent offensive movements in the United States have led to a fundamental and irreparable strike against the international administration of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
The envoy emphasized that not only liability for the serious consequences of the attack, but also that the US and Israeli regimes should bear responsibility for the consequences of the attacks.
Turning to Iran’s inherent rights to legitimate defense, Najafi stressed that Iran’s Islamic Republic defends national sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to the UN Charter and the NPT.
