The Hebrew media have described the incident as the most severe by the Israeli military in recent months. They reported that Israel’s first military forces were caught in a well-planned ambush by resistance fighters.
The follow-up force sent for assistance was immediately struck by a second trap laid by the same fighter plane. Due to strict military censorship, Israeli media avoided disclosing full-scale losses.
However, they confirmed that multiple professional soldiers were killed or injured, and several military vehicles were destroyed in the fire.
Israeli forces later pleaded the deaths of seven staff members, including one officer, in a clash in southern Gaza.
The announcement follows Tuesday’s incident, when the 606th Battalion Combat Engineering Unit was targeted by an explosive device that destroyed the armored vehicle of Khan Eunice.
According to an official military statement, 16 additional soldiers were injured in the attack.
