It has not long since the ceasefire was established in the context of a war between Iran and the Israeli occupation regime. The war began early on June 13, 2025 with an offensive attack by the Israeli regime in Iran and lasted for 12 days. During this conflict, the world witnessed significant resistance from Iran and the serious blow that Iran dealt with the Israeli regime.
It’s not surprising to see a considerable number of western and regional analysts view Iran as the main winner of this battle. Iran highlights that it has achieved considerable victory not only in terms of traditional military wars, but also in terms of soft power over Israeli and Western supporters.
One important point reflected in the recent statement by Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araguchi is that a ceasefire has been achieved due to sustained pressure from Western parties, particularly the United States, and increased activity from Arab countries, particularly Qatar. Various reports have also previously highlighted the Israeli regime’s fierce desire to establish a ceasefire with Iran. This raises an immediate question: what lies behind these claims?
To answer this question, three important points need to be considered: First, the Israeli regime and the United States wanted Iran to reach its breaking point and collapse soon. But contrary to their expectations, Iran quickly regained its capabilities and launched a formidable attack on the occupied territory. These attacks, which Western and Israeli sources have admitted unprecedented in the history of illegal Israeli regimes, have resulted in widespread material, psychological and international damages on Israel.
Additionally, various reports have shown that the Israeli regime’s military stockpile has dropped significantly. As a result, when the West and Israelis realized their military inability to Iran, they were forced to retreat and seek a ceasefire.
The second point is that the Israeli regime did not expect to face a wave of unity and national unity from the Iranian people. The administration had the flawed belief that the attack would cause chaos and obstacles in Iran, ultimately leading to a rapid collapse of Iran’s political system. In contrast, this scenario did not unfold, but many international relations theorists argue that Iran’s political system is now more stable than ever, and that state unity further strengthens Iran’s state power. Therefore, the Israeli regime and its major ally, the United States, viewed the continued hostilities against Iran as a serious responsibility.
Third, Israel’s attacks on Iran and violations of the fundamental principles of international law have severely undermined the international status of both Israel and the United States. We have witnessed widespread protests against the US and Israel all over the world, demonstrating that Israelis and American allies can bring a grabber scenario, even to international Angelie. They therefore evaluated that ending the war was more consistent with their interests than its continuity.
All these factors convey a clear message. The Israeli and US occupation regime were major losers in recent attacks on Iran.
