In an interview in Tehran on Saturday, head of Basij Media Organization Morteza Kar Amouzian said, “Nine of the country’s journalists were martyred in direct and targeted attacks by the Zionist regime.”
“More than 10 journalists have been injured in the last 12-day war, and treatment is still ongoing,” he added.
“Kar Amouzian also stated that, according to Article 8 of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Act, attacks on journalists are war crimes. The Act is also a clear violation of Article 52 of the Geneva Convention on Civilians (IV) of 1949 and Additional Protocol I to the Fourth Geneva Convention, which requires the protection of civilian objects and media staff,” he further emphasized.
“This anti-media crime should not be wrapped up in global media. In cooperation with related organizations, the Basij Media organization will seek legal and international prosecution of the perpetrators behind such attacks and bring them to justice,” the Iranian body emphasized.
