Amir Saed Irabani, the ambassador to Iran and the permanent representative of the United Nations, condemned the deliberate attack on Israeli Iranian health workers in a formal complaint filed with the United Nations.
In his letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the President of the Security Council on Sunday, Irabani said the Israeli regime intentionally targeted Iranian medical staff and facilities.
He said Israel’s “brutally and merciless military attacks” had caused significant damage to many civilian casualties and non-military infrastructure across Iran.
Irabani further emphasized that Israel’s actions constitute a strong violation of international humanitarian and human rights law, as well as other related treaties by systematically attacking healthcare workers and health centers, causing significant losses and widespread destruction of life.
Israel launched its attack on June 13, just three days before scheduled talks between Iran and the US over Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program.
The US took part in the war on June 22nd, launching airstrikes at three Iranian nuclear sites, Fordow, Isfahan and Natanz.
In response, the Iranian forces carried out a powerful retaliatory strike, targeting important positions across Israel’s occupied territory, causing great damage. The ceasefire was announced on June 24th.
